GARBAGE DISPOSAL: How to avoid clogs & other common problems
A garbage disposal is designed to help break down soft food waste, however the blades of the disposal (as well as the drain pipes) can be prone to clogging if not used correctly.
- Keep a strainer over the drains to avoid unwanted things falling in the sink (rings, silverware, etc.). You can get strainers at almost any dollar store.
- Avoid putting items in disposal that are potentially harmful: banana skins, broccoli, celery, corn husks, potato peels, bones, eggshells, coffee grounds, and fat/grease.
- Keep the food particles small and don't add them all at once. Run COLD water to help carry the food waste down into the blades and through the pipes (continue running water about 15 sec after food is disposed to force any remaining food & flush the pipes.
- Avoid hot water. It can melt fat on certain foods and then it'll stick to the blades and pipes causing clogs.
- Clean regularly (every couple of weeks or so depending on frequency of use) by using 1 cup vinegar & 1/2 cup baking soda, use a toothbrush on the flaps. You can also cut up citrus fruit with water to help clean the disposal and pipes.

If you have a package that needs a signature, they will be unable to deliver it, BUT you'll be able to go to the Post Office at 3450 South St (near Target on SR 26).

Trash:
Pick-up days are Tuesday & Friday. Make sure to break down all boxes to save room in each dumpster. NOTHING gets put on the ground! If there is something too large to fit in dumpster, tell the office immediately so they can schedule a pick-up (different type of pick-up).
Pet Waste:
Clean all messes immediately.
Note: If it is not clear who made the mess and maintenance/landscapers have to pick it up, it will be a community charge.

Are you wanting to keep your place looking nice and want to do touch-ups or patching as you go? Feel free to ask for a small can of paint to do those touch-ups here and there!
